I can go to hear the San Francisco Symphony without using my car or even my bike, from Pasadena. It’s a long trip, but I can get to downtown Hollywood for Geek Dinner or a movie at the Arclight on our Metro too. There are a lot of cars, and not enough respect for cyclists, but the roads are at capacity and the only way for transit in LA to improve is with more trains and more bicycles, so that’s the way things are going. My office in Pasadena has a “walk score” of 95, so as far as Los Angeles goes, this is where you want to be. My home has a “walk score” of 75. And it isn’t a problem to bicycle the two miles between.
